Amanda Chappell is the Far Western Region Associate Student Representative for Sigma Tau Delta and the Vice President of the Kappa Upsilon Chapter at Saint Martin’s University. She is most interested in memoir and autobiographical studies. Some of her favorite writers include Carrie Fisher, Sylvia Plath, and Maggie O’Farrell. She hopes to write a memoir one day that will impact others the same way those three writers have impacted her. Her cat, Marie, is her best friend and she can’t wait to adopt more.

  3. If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be spinach and ricotta ravioli!
  4. Growing up, I was sure I would be an artist of some kind.
  5. I know every word to the song New York State of Mind,” by Billy Joel.
  6. The best gift I’ve ever received was the gift of life!
  7. My nickname in high school was Mandy.
  8. If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up pasta of any form.
  9. I’m both a reader and a writer.
  10. The best paper title I ever created was “Let’s Kill the ‘Dream,’ But Not the Dreamers.”
  11. The literary place I’d most like to visit is Monroeville, AL (what inspired Maycomb in To Kill a Mockingbird).
  12. My dream job is as a senior editor at a publishing house.
  13. An author I truly admire is Sylvia Plath.
  14. My go-to children’s book is Charlotte’s Web, by E. B. White.
  15. The destination at the top of my travel bucket list is Amsterdam, Netherlands.
  16. My favorite part of being an English Major is that there is hardly ever ONE right answer, like there is in math and science.
  17. The last book I read was I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death, by Maggie O’Farrell.

  20. In 10 years, I’m betting that the big trend in literature will be: I think (and hope, really) that memoirs will continue to gain popularity.
