Meet Jessica Trad

Jessica Trad is a senior at Hastings College in Hastings, NE, pursuing a major in English. She is currently the President of the Alpha Alpha Psi Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta and the High Plains Region Student Representative. Jessica has presented creative fiction at the Sigma Tau Delta convention and enjoys creative writing as well as reading. She plans to attain a PhD in modernist literature and become a professor. In addition to reading and writing, Jessica enjoys music and traveling. During her junior year, Jessica was awarded an internship to pursue her passion for environmental awareness in Ireland.

  6. The best gift I’ve ever received was Paul McCartney concert tickets!
  7. My nickname in high school was Macca.
  8. If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up cereal—that’s about the extent of my culinary ability.
  9. I’m more of a writer.
  10. The best paper title I ever created was “Lifting the Gender Veil.”

  12. My dream job is to own a coffee shop/bookstore.
  13. An author I truly admire is Joan Didion.
  14. My go-to children’s book is the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne.
  15. The destination at the top of my travel bucket list is Italy.
  16. My favorite part of being an English Major is being required to read (something I would be doing for fun anyway!).

  19. My favorite bookstore is Shakespeare and Co, although I prefer to buy books from small second-hand shops.
  20. In 10 years, I’m betting that the big trend in literature will be dystopian novels or memoirs.
