DeAndra Miller is the 2017-2018 junior Student Advisor<\/a> for the Society<\/a>. She currently attends Minot State University<\/a> in North Dakota. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, and playing video games. She would love to write storylines for her favorite video game franchises one day. She owns too many books, and buys them faster than she has time to read them. Translation: huge TBR pile! DeAndra loves reading and writing because, like Albus Dumbledore, she believes that words are our most inexhaustible source of magic.<\/p>\n

  2. I never leave the house without a Nintendo 3DS<\/a> and a book<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be lobster mac and cheese!<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Growing up, I was sure I would be a trauma surgeon<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. I know every word to the song “To Love You More” by Celine Dion<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. The best gift I’ve ever received was a Nook tablet from my husband<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  7. My nickname in high school was Dee<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  8. If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up some variety of Jamaican cuisine. I love my culture!<\/strong><\/li>\n
  9. I’m both a reader and writer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  10. The best paper title I ever created was “Harry Potter<\/em> and the Women Who Were.”<\/strong><\/li>\n
  11. The literary place I’d most like to visit is everywhere in England!<\/strong><\/li>\n
  12. My dream job is Professor and Author<\/strong>.\"J.<\/a><\/li>\n
  13. An author I truly admire is J. K. Rowling<\/a>. Her humble beginnings and struggles led to eventual success. She’s inspiring to me.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  14. My go-to children’s book is Where the Wild Things Are<\/a><\/em>. I read it to my boys now<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  15. The destination at the top of my travel bucket list is Santorini, Greece. It’s gorgeous in pictures<\/strong>.\"Santorini,<\/a><\/li>\n
  16. My favorite part of being an English Major is analyzing works through various lenses and getting others’ points of view to broaden my own worldview<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  17. The last book I read was The Book of Unknown Americans<\/a><\/em> by Cristina Henr\u00edquez<\/a>. Go get our common reader<\/a>!\"Cristina<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n
  18. My favorite book series is Harry Potter<\/a><\/em> (clearly). Also, the Throne of Glass<\/a><\/em> series and the Lunar Chronicles<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  19. My favorite place to buy books is Barnes and Noble or any local bookstore near me<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  20. In 10 years, I’m betting that the English major will be more valued. Critical thinking is useful in any career<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  21. My first job was as a <\/strong>game advisor at GameStop<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  22. The last books I bought were Gemina<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, Magonia<\/a><\/em>, and Replica<\/a><\/em>, but I have not yet read them<\/strong>.\"Gemina,<\/a><\/li>\n
