2023 Convention Update

The Sigma Tau Delta 2023 Convention will be held March 29 – April 1, 2023, at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, CO. Every spring, Sigma Tau Delta holds its annual international convention, a unique event that allows hundreds of members and Chapter Advisors from around the United States and beyond to gather in one locale, share experiences and expertise, be recognized for their achievements, and participate in the official proceedings of the Society. The convention also provides opportunities to discover new ideas in English and English-related disciplines, while interacting with speakers, presenters, and texts that members might not otherwise encounter.

Convention Hotel Room Block Closes March 7

Book you rooms today! The Sigma Tau Delta group block at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel is filling quickly.

Sigma Tau Delta’s special pre-tax group rate is $199/night for Single or Double bed rooms (single, double, triple, and quad occupancy). Use the room block registration link for the hotel block. These special rates will be available until March 7, 2023, or until the room block is full, whichever occurs first.

Overnight self-parking is $45/day for convention attendees.

Transportation from the Airport

The Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel is located approximately 25 miles from the Denver International Airport (DIA). Information on shuttle services, taxis, ride share, and bus transportation can be found on the?Denver International Airport Website.

Denver has a flat-rate for their taxis:

  • Airport to Sheraton: $56 flat no matter how many people.
  • Sheraton to Airport: $51 flat, $1 extra for every additional passenger. No luggage fee, gate fee.

Denver’s Free MallRide Bus

The Free MallRide connects you to the sights and sounds of downtown Denver. MallRide buses operate along the 16th Street Mall providing access to great restaurants, shops, theatres, galleries, tourist attractions, and  businesses. All rides are free, just hop on board! The Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel is along the MallRide bus route.

Food and Fun in Denver

Purchase Convention T-shirts

This year’s convention T-shirt is 100% Ultra Cotton. Pre-order of convention T-shirts is now closed. A limited quantity of T-shirts will be available for sale March 29 – April 1 at the Shop English pop-up convention site store.

Convention Awards Luncheon

The Convention Awards Luncheon is the culminating, most exciting, and most special event of the convention, regularly getting top reviews in post-convention surveys. Join hundreds of attendees at this festive dinner, share stimulating conversations and laughter, and be present when thousands of dollars are awarded for the best convention presentations. Don’t miss this opportunity to sport your red and black finery while celebrating your membership in Sigma Tau Delta or Sigma Kappa Delta.

Convention registration fees do NOT include the Convention Awards Luncheon on Saturday, April 1 at 12:45 p.m. Your highly subsidized banquet fee is a separate $20.00 for convention registrants and non registered guests. Pre-order for Convention Awards Luncheon tickets is now closed. A limited quantity of Luncheon tickets will be available for sale March 29 and 30 at on-site registration.

If you have purchased a luncheon ticket and have dietary restrictions and/or allergies please fill out the dietary restriction form. We will give this information to the chef preparing the meal so that they can be sure your meal will meet your dietary needs.

Chapter Displays and Chapter Merchandise Sales

Sigma Tau Delta invites you to do some fundraising by having a Chapter Merchandise table or to show off what you’ve been up to by hosting a Chapter Display table at convention. Monetary awards are given for the top Chapter Displays.

  • Tables are free of charge.
  • Tables will be set up in a common area of the hotel, not in a room that locks, so plan accordingly, especially when it comes to securing merchandise and money.
  • The hotel charges for receiving/holding/shipping materials; it is best to bring them independently. Individual chapters are responsible for any associated cost(s) their chapter incurs.
  • There is a Target store in the area that has some basic office supplies; however, we did not see poster board when we were there last fall.
  • Sigma Tau Delta is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items, nor will it pay or reimburse any fees associated with this event.

Chapter Display and Merchandise Sales tables will come with a 6′ table per chapter; if there is extensive interest, we will need to be creative with the space and tables may need to be shared. This will be known and communicated prior to the convention. Electric outlets will not be available.

Complete the interest form by March 14, 2023, to reserve your table(s).
