Meet the Deltans

Meet Baylee Harding

Baylee Harding is a senior at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) studying Secondary English Education. Baylee has been a member and officer for the Sigma Tau Delta chapter at MSSU for two years, and now serves as the Student Representative for the Midwestern Region. In her free time, Baylee leads worship at her church, spends time with her friends and family, and adds multiple books to her to-be-read list that simply never get read.

  1. I chose to become an English Major because literature, writing, and reading are all ways that I have been able to express myself most fully, and I want to lead students to experience the same outlet in literature and composition!
  2. My favorite part of being an English Major is talking about books and literature with my English friends.
  3. The last book I read was The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.
  4. My favorite book series is The Selection by Kiera Cass.
  5. A book character I identify with is Charlotte Lucas from Pride and Prejudice (no money and no prospects).
  6. The last book I bought was Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey, but I have not yet read it.
  7. My favorite book to movie adaptation is Pride and Prejudice.
  8. I’m more of a reader than a writer.
  9. My favorite style of writing is narrative.
  10. My go-to children’s book is Love You Forever by Robert N. Munsch.
  11. My favorite childhood memory is singing at church with my Nana.
  12. Growing up, I was sure I would be Hannah Montana.
  13. My first job was as a waitress at my hometown restaurant.
  14. My dream job is to be a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  15. I like to spend my free time singing, playing piano, and playing Nonagrams on my phone.
  16. The destination at the top of my travel bucket list is Greece.
  17. The literary place I’d most like to visit is Pemberley, Mr. Darcy’s Home (in Lyme Park, Cheshire).
  18. If I could move anywhere in the world, I’d live in Greece.
  19. If I was stranded on a desert island, the three things I would bring with me are a book of word searches, snacks, and a Bluetooth speaker.
  20. The one song I could listen to on repeat is august” by Taylor Swift.
  21. The best gift I ever received was my first iPod Touch at Christmas from my Aunt Angie.
  22. The best gift I’ve ever given is a Nintendo Switch for my younger sister.
  23. If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up pasta.
  24. If I could try any food from a book or series, it would be Treacle Tart from Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling.
  25. The author (dead or alive) I’d most like to spend a day with is Jane Austen.
