Meet Brett Iarrobino

Brett Iarrobino is a graduate student attending Clark University in Worcester, MA, pursuing a Masters in Education for teaching secondary English language arts. They’ve just graduated from undergraduate with twin Bachelor’s degrees in Theatre Arts and English, as well as a minor in Screen Studies, and previously served as Sigma Tau Delta’s Eastern Region Student Representative during the 2020-21 academic year. Currently Brett is the Junior Student Advisor. In their spare time, Brett is a budding playwright, who enjoys writing creatively for the stage and communicating important stories through theatre, as well as teaching creative writing and drama with local and regional nonprofit organizations.

1. My favorite movie is Hereditary.
   
2. I never leave the house without a water bottle (trying to get better about hydration!).
3. If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be pasta (so much creative potential!).
4. Growing up, I was sure I would be an actor or writer.
5. I know every word to the song “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston.
6. The best gift I’ve ever received was great seats to Adele, live in concert, back in 2016.
7. My nickname in high school was Brettie.
8. If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up something quick and easy (I’m a student, not a chef!).
9. I’m more of a writer.
10. The best paper title I ever created was “Space, Sex, and Seeking the Same: Affect Aliens & Extraterrestrial Queerness.”
11. The literary place I’d most like to visit is the Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site.
12. My dream job is teaching and writing; anytime, anywhere, anyhow!
13. An author I truly admire is Tarell Alvin McCraney.
14. My go-to children’s book is The Beautiful Butterfly: A Folktale from Spain, by Judy Sierra.
15. The destination at the top of my travel bucket list is Antarctica.
16. My favorite part of being an English Major is the wide array of fields you can pursue—I feel ready to jump in almost too many different career paths!
17. The last book I read was Hey, Kiddo, a graphic novel by Jarrett Kroscozka (who grew up where I live!)..
18. My favorite book is On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong
19. My favorite bookstore is Crompton Collective in Worcester, MA.
20. In 10 years, I’m betting that the big trend in literature will be books about quarantine and isolation (because, you know. . . ).
21. My first job was bussing tables at a local restaurant.
22. The last book I bought was We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live by Joan Didion, but I have not yet read it.
23. The celebrity I’d most like to spend a day with is the reclusive and eclectic New Zealand singer-songwriter, Lorde.
24. If I could move anywhere in the world, I’d live in Oxford, England.
25. My Hogwarts House is Hufflepuff!
