Meet Kassia Krone

Kassia Krone is the High Plains Regent and she is an Associate Professor of English at Friends University. She teaches a wide variety of English classes. Her research interests include disability studies, women and gender studies, Southern literature, gothic literature, and film. She is a movie buff, board game enthusiast, wordsmith, book nerd, and Ravenclaw.

  1. I chose to become an English Major because I always loved reading and writing, and I had great English teachers who encouraged me along the way.
  2. My favorite part of being an English Major is getting to discuss literature with other book lovers.
  3. The last book I read was The Invited by Jennifer McMahon.
  4. My favorite book series is Harry Potter.
  5. A book character I identify with is Anne from Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery.
  6. The last book I bought was Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, and I have read it.
  7. My favorite book to movie adaptation is The Count of Monte Cristo.
  8. I’m more of a reader than a writer.
  9. My favorite style of writing is fiction.
  10. My go-to children’s book is The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams.
  11. My favorite childhood memory is creating plays in the backyard with all the neighborhood kids.
  12. Growing up, I was sure I would be a teacher.
  13. My first job was working at a Sonic drive-in.
  14. My dream job is: I’m doing it!
  15. I like to spend my free time reading, traveling, singing, and playing board games.
  16. The destination at the top of my travel bucket list is Ireland.
  17. The literary place I’d most like to visit is Hogwarts.
  18. If I could move anywhere in the world, I’d live in Scotland.
  19. If I was stranded on a desert island, the three things I would bring with me are a book, blanket, and coffee.
  20. The one song I could listen to on repeat is “Reverse” by Goo Goo Dolls.
  21. The best gift I ever received was: My husband proposed to me by having a book written and illustrated about our relationship.
  22. The best gift I’ve ever given is a first edition copy of Gone With the Wind.
  23. If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up zucchini bread.
  24. If I could try any food from a book or series, it would be butterbeer from Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling.
  25. The author (dead or alive) I’d most like to spend a day with is Edgar Allen Poe.
