Meet Lily Alvarado

Lily Alvarado is the Associate Student Representative for the Eastern Region. She was born and raised in Bronx, NY, and attends SUNY Plattsburgh, where she double majors in Literature and Gender and Women’s Studies. Facts about Lily include but are not limited to: she has a permanent scar on her right middle finger from when she was two years old; she used to be a ballet, tap, salsa dancer, and cheerleader; and she will be the 2020-2021 President of the LGBTQ Student Union in her school.

  4. Growing up, I was sure I would be an astronaut.

  6. The best gift I’ve ever received was my bearded dragon.
  7. My nickname in high school was Lils.
  8. If you find me in the kitchen, I’m typically whipping up a bowl of cereal.
  9. I’m more of a reader.
  10. The best paper title I ever created was “Coloniality: The Historical, Erotic, and Political Dimensions Situated in Puerto Rican Women’s Lives.”
  11. The literary place I’d most like to visit is Hogwarts.
  12. My dream job is to be a literature professor.
  13. An author I truly admire is Benjamin Alire Sáenz.
  14. My go-to children’s book is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
  15. The destination at the top of my travel bucket list is Berlin, Germany.
  16. My favorite part of being an English Major is being in a small and passionate literary community on campus.
  17. The last book I read was Bi: Notes For a Bisexual Revolution by Shiri Eisner.

  23. The celebrity I’d most like to spend a day with is Princess Nokia.
  24. If I could move anywhere in the world, I’d live in Puerto Rico.
